Overview of Position
The Associate Director (Assoc. Dir.), Program Management R&D is responsible for providing program management support within the R&D organization driving and enabling successful execution of R&D activities for asset development.  This role sits within the Taysha Program Management Office and will partner with the Medical Affairs organization, a function within R&D that works closely with various other areas of Taysha, to support strategic planning and decision making as well as tactical activity planning and tracking to ensure deliverables are aligned with strategic imperatives, thoroughly planned, and executed in a timely manner.  As Assoc. Dir., working on a program with increasing complexity is anticipated which will require partnerships with external team members, as well as leads from other Taysha functions (e.g. Commercial, Patient Advocacy, R&D functions, etc.) to meet high-level clinical and corporate program milestones.  While this role is primarily focused on enabling Medical Affairs activity execution, there may be other projects within R&D that will require support, requiring the ideal candidate to be flexible, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to have general R&D knowledge.

Essential Duties
In close partnership with Medical Affairs and PMO leadership:
  • Enable the planning and execution of congress participation, publications, advisory board meetings, stakeholder engagement and scientific communication activities, and medical education, including management of timelines, deliverables, dependencies, risks/issues aligned with corporate communication goals and objectives. 
  • Facilitate meetings to achieve expected outcomes, document key decisions, drive follow-ups and enable deliverable execution.
  • Escalate key areas of risks and/or key decisions as aligned upon with functional leadership to progress deliverables and connect Medical Affairs to the broader organization.
  • Lead sub-groups and/or small project teams within Medical Affairs and in collaboration with other functions to successfully execute deliverables and tasks.
  • Utilize tools for tracking and reporting of activities, milestones, risks, etc., in support of the integrated program plan and to ensure transparency on progress of activity planning and execution.
  • Partner with other Program Management team members to drive improvements on program management tools to standardize ways of working and improve performance across the PMO organization.
  • Ability to travel approx. once a month to support and attend various face-to-face meetings is critical for the successful candidate

Skill & Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 8-10 years of experience working in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech and/or Life Sciences industries.
  • 5+ years of experience working directly in project/program management or equivalent project experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting Medical Affairs or related cross-functional activities, including congress planning, publications, advisory boards, scientific communications, medical education, and/or stakeholder engagement, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with many functions with a strong sense of accountability to ensure projects are driven to completion.
  • Track record of delivering in a fast-paced, dynamic, start-up environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing multiple projects/priorities simultaneously and having exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team setting whether leading the group or acting as an individual contributor.
  • Goal oriented, quality conscientious, and patient focused.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or PMP certification preferred.
  • Expertise in late-stage clinical development through post-marketing, preferred.

This is a remotely based position in the U.S.

Expected base compensation range at time of posting: $170,000 – 190,000 target annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

The actual base salary depends, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience.
